Interhome takes over Just France distribution

It has concluded a strategic cooperation deal with the Switzerland Travel Centre, which is opening a new Representative Office in Delhi and will take over the marketing of Interhome in India from 1 January 2009.

The attention of the Swiss travel trade was again focussed on the Lake Geneva resort of Montreux on 30 and 31 October 2008, as thousands of industry representatives assembled for the 33rd annual TRAVEL TRADE WORKSHOP (TTW) Montreux. This year's event extended over a surface area of some 4700 square metres, attracting exhibitors from more than 50 countries. The numbers of exhibitors and visitors were slightly down on the previous year. But the overall ambience was one of optimism – and exhibitors cited the high quality of visitors. The programme of educational and training workshops was well attended by the Swiss travel trade. The Business Travel Workshop (BTW) registered a record attendance.

The Business Travel Workshop – launched five years ago – is one of the highlights of the annual TRAVEL TRADE WORKSHOP (TTW) in Montreux. Every year it focuses on a current major issue confronting the industry in Switzerland. The 2008 topic is the deregulation of Global Distribution Systems and carries the title «Shaking up the GDS Market». Following an opening address by Regula Dettling-Ott of Swiss International Air Lines, this controversial issue will be debated in a one-hour podium discussion by leading trade representatives. Moderator will be Beat Eichenberger, Editor-in-Chief of «travel manager», the monthly magazine for the Swiss travel industry.


TTW Montreux appoints Advisory Board

TTW Management – organizers of the annual TRAVEL TRADE WORKSHOP (TTW) Montreux, official trade fair of the Swiss travel industry – has announced the appointment of an Advisory Board. The new body will advise on the future direction of the TTW, the organization of parallel events and also on promotional activities.


Qatar Airways to fly Doha-New York daily non-stop

Qatar Airways today announced its Doha – New York route will operate non-stop with a daily flight, effective from the beginning of the winter 2008 schedules on October 26. Under the new schedules, Qatar Airways will no longer operate flights between Geneva and New York, but will significantly increase seat capacity between Doha and Geneva, which will become a dedicated service.
