World Tourism Forum Lucerne, together with Korn Ferry and IATA, orchestrated and conducted personal interviews with 50 CEOs and other highly influential and committed aviation leaders globally as well as organised a concurrent global online study of millennial talents to evaluate how the aviation industry is rising to their career hopes and expectations. The results were formally announced at the World Tourism Forum Lucerne in May 2017 and the ensuing discussions serve as the basis for the now published Action Plan. This Action Plan is aimed at sharing simple actionable steps that can be adapted by the aviation sector to make it more attractive to the next generation of talent.
Tourasia Roemer – the largest tour operator in Switzerland specializing in travel to Asia – and Zurich-based Diethelm Travel Holding are merging their Asian destination management operations. The deal creates one of the largest destination management companies in Southeast Asia, with more than 500 staff in 13 countries and a combined annual turnover of USD 90 million. From mid-September Stephan Roemer, founder and Managing Director of Tourasia, takes over the post of CEO with responsibility for all operational activities headquartered in Bangkok.

Today, Wednesday, a selected expert group gathered to take part in a Think Tank to discuss the most pressing questions facing tourism both today and in the future.
The launching by the World Tourism Forum Lucerne of its first "Start-Up Innovation Camp" attracted no fewer than 170 entries from 50 countries. Of these, 16 have now been shortlisted for the 2017 final. The winners in the four categories will be announced on the eve of the Forum in Switzerland in May.

With effect from 2016, several prominent new names have joined this consultative body. The most recent is Jacinta Nzioka (Kenya Tourism Board), who has become the Advisory Board's newest member.
As part of the 2017 "Next Generation Competition", international tourism CEOs and their young top talents will meet up in central Switzerland in May with other leading like-minded professionals from the industry. The global gathering will take place on the eve of the 5th World Tourism Forum Lucerne. 3 to 5 May 2017. The global event – staged every two years – will again attract top decision makers from the travel, tourism and related fields. Preparations are also under way for the staging of the first WTFL in China in 2018.
Late 2019 will see the opening of the first hotel in Switzerland by the Germany-based prizeotel group. The new hotel will comprise 188 rooms and be located at the former Swiss Post headquarters at Viktoriastrasse in Bern. The project is the group's first joint venture with the Belgium-based Rezidor Hotel Group, which this year acquired a 49 percent stake in the prizeotel economy design chain. The Bern project highlights the ambitious expansion strategy which Rezidor and prizeotel plan to pursue in Switzerland.
Leading Swiss e-bike manufacturer Biketec has launched its product range for 2017. It will focus mainly on new models in the mountain bike segment (Uproc-Series) as well as in the increasingly popular Urban category (U-Series).
Swiss e-bike manufacturer Biketec has appointed a new CEO with effect from 18 April 2016. Andreas Kessler is taking over from Simon Lehmann, who leaves the company at his own request.
