Engelberg is located 25 km south of Lake Lucerne, an hour's drive from Zurich in a high valley at an altitude of around 1000 metres. The village at the foot of the 3238 metre high Titlis is the outdoor paradise par excellence: in summer there are 500 km of hiking trails, numerous mountain bike trails, six via ferratas for every level and bouldering and climbing routes. The Alpkäse Trail and the rustic Buriäbähnli safari will never get boring, and there is plenty of action for families with the spacious playgrounds at Trübsee and Berglodge Ristis (Brunni). In winter, the Obwalden holiday resort is known worldwide as a deep snow Mecca for freeriders and ski tourers thanks to the high snow guarantee and good snow quality.
