Founded in 1969 and listed on the electronic trading platform OTC-X of the Berner Kantonalbank, Sunstar-Holding AG, based in Liestal/BL, owns and operates seven Sunstar holiday hotels in the 4-star segment in the Swiss mountains, Ticino and Piedmont: Arosa, Klosters, Lenzerheide, Grindelwald, Brissago, Isola d'Asti and now Pontresina.

The Sunstar Group opened the Sunstar Hotel Pontresina in mid-June 2024. The group has completely renovated the old Hotel La Collina and added a new building. The hotel concept is new, refreshingly different and offers freedom-loving guests many options for organising their stay. The hotel group believes in the uncomplicated and in a holiday hotel without a reception, without cash and without a traditional half-board restaurant. The hotel group is also taking a new approach to digitalisation. New tools are used to handle everyday processes quickly and efficiently. The Sunstar Hotel Pontresina offers 44 lofts and double rooms, some with kitchenette, which can be combined into spacious units, as well as two flats.
